FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY – Prior to this term of council the Township was able to maintain tax rates at or near the annual cost of living increase. During the first two years of the current term when there was an established block of council able to carry the vote the Township saw tax rate increases of approximately 9% and 20%. This level of tax increase is not sustainable for the taxpayers!

TAX BASE – Amaranth has a large amount of undeveloped commercial/industrial lands within the Township that are now drawing attention from businesses. The Township will focus on attracting development to that area to capitalize on these high tax/low cost developments.

CONTINUED ENGAGEMENT – I will build on the work completed previously where I have formed committees resulting in over 25 new community volunteer positions. I will look for additional ways to engage more residents.

TRANSPARENCY – I will continue to champion a more transparent budget process as I have in the past by advocating for a Public Special Council Meeting specifically to discuss the annual budget before passing as well as successfully reducing the frequency of Closed Meetings.

A VOICE FOR YOUTH – I have delivered on my 2014 campaign promise to engage more youth by funding a program for youth activities while also adding seven (7) committee positions specifically to give youth a voice in our community. I will continue to do this by creating a Youth Committee to address issues of importance to the youth of Amaranth at no cost to the taxpayers.

OUTREACH – I will commit to a minimum of three (3) Mayor’s Townhall meetings per year to be held throughout the Township at no cost to the taxpayer so residents can voice their opinions without having to travel to a council meeting.
